Why Live Or Die?

Why Live or Die?
(A letter by an unborn through Wain)

Dear Mom,

Were you once like me
With your brain just as small?
When deciding if I’m human
Should my size matter at all?

Does it matter if you can hear me
Whether my voice is strong or weak?
Can my heartbeat give me rights
If it’s the only way I can speak?

How did I get inside your body?
Isn’t it you who put me here?
How can I make you love me
Instead of filling you with fear?

Didn’t you depend on your mom
To keep you safe and sound?
So why would you throw me in the trash
Or bury me in the ground?

Are you grateful you weren’t aborted?
Are you happy to be alive?
Isn’t my life also worth living
With a chance to grow and thrive?

Sorry for all my questions a
About what it means to exist
I want to understand you
So there’s one more on my list:

Whether you choose to keep me
Or decide that I should die
Could you please give me the courtesy
Of telling me why?

Thanks,

Your Unborn Child
