Thank You Lord

Thank you Lord
(A Thanksgiving poem by Wain)

Dear God,

Thank you Lord for the good things
Like the sun that lights our day
It gives energy for trees to grow
And vitamin D to kids at play

Thank you Lord for the good things
Like cool water that quenches our thirst
It’s also good for cooking and bathing
But the delight of drinking ranks first

Thank you Lord for the good things
Like a family that is always there
A life-giving mother who nurtures
And a dad with wisdom to share

Thank you Lord for the good things
Like love that warms our heart
It alone makes life worth living
And gives hope at every new start

Thank you Lord for the good things
Like a brain that knows how to think
It helps us to solve our problems
In a life that can be gone in a blink

Oh Lord! About those problems:

Should I thank you for bad things too?
Like darkness, pain and heartbreak?
Would you really believe I’m grateful?
Or will you hear my words as fake?

Oh Lord! Please don’t be silent!
There is something I need to know:
Should I pray for you to fix all my problems?
Or say thanks for the opportunities to grow?

Please respond soon.

Your servant,

Wain
